Montevideo, March 24th 2019
MVD Free Airport has finalized the executive project and is ready to commence the construction of a new, state-of-the-art cargo reception area on April 2019. This includes over 700m2 of reception area, including automated data capturing mechanisms for both photographic documentation and x-raying of 100% of the airfreight handled. This is a significant milestone in South America in terms of providing the conditions for an automated, traceable end-to-end distribution in the region.
“We are definitely excited about what is to come” mentioned Alfonso Diez de Medina, Senior Operations Manager at MVD Free Airport. “We recently implemented a tailored software for all operations that have allowed for the digitalization of company internal processes, greatly reducing the margin of error as well as contributing to an increased overall efficiency”, he argued. “With this new reception area we are able to further organize our operational flows and capture the exact conditions in which the cargo was received, putting this information at the disposal of the client”, he concluded.
With the new reception area to be concluded in Q3 2019, MVD Free Airport continues to strengthen its positioning as a competitive point of entry to South America via its GDP certified premises, state-of-the-art infrastructure and revamped information systems that provide clients with certainty and ownership.
MVD Free Airport is part of Corporación America, the parent Company that also manages the concessions of the Carrasco International Airport and Punta Del Este Airport in Uruguay, alongside over 50 airports and 10 cargo terminals in 10 countries across 3 continents.
