GSK selects MVD Free Airport as its Regional Distribution Center

With the presence of Uruguayan governmental authorities and GSK and MVD Free Airport’s leadership team, GSK announced its decision to install its new regional distribution center at MVD Free Airport.

The British Company GSK selected Uruguay as the location to base its new regional distribution center, from which it will be able to provision regional markets with its products for the treatment of ASMA, EPOC, rhinitis, Epilepsy and HIV, amongst other diseases.

The new distribution center will be based in the MVD Free Airport’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, designed specifically for the storage and handling of pharmaceutical products in compliance with the most demanding global quality and safety standards.

The operation implies the reception of products arriving from origins such as the UK, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Spain, Poland and Brazil via sea at MVD Free Airport’s pharmaceutical warehouse. Once arrived, products will be received, stored and eventually dispatched to different destinations in the region.

Ignacio Vincent, Commercial Manager at GSK, mentioned, “The selection of Uruguay as the location from which to carry onward the distribution of products to the region is yet another example of GSK’s uninterrupted commitment to the country throughout the past 80 years.”

The strategic reasons behind the GSK’s selection of Uruguay according to Vincent include the geographic location, social and economic stability, transparency, improvements in terms of connectivity as well as the existence of a regulatory framework that allows for the development of these types of Business platforms.
